Do you speak TO people or WITH people?

sueseward How we sound to people will be determined by how we continue to constantly be developing ourselves into servant leaders. When we develop ourselves as business professionals or servant leaders we automatically come across differently to people because now we care about them. When I first started in the Network Marketing profession over fifteen years ago I did a lot of talking TO people because all I cared about was making money and making it fast so everyone sort of became a target.  That sort of behavior back fired and turned everyone off. I’ve learned throughout the years in the school of hard knocks and growing myself professionally into a servant leader, that it’s much more important to speak WITH people vs talking TO people. Talking TO people may imply to them that we’re trying to sell them with our agenda right?  Or it may appear that way because we may be doing all the talking or we have all the control.  Sometimes we can be too much of a control freak for our own good and sabotage our own efforts. Speaking WITH someone shows we care about what they are interested in. How do we connect with and know what someone is really interested in?  We ask by speaking with them and asking them to share more about themselves.
Tell me more about that or tell me more about why you hate your job? Tell me more about why you want to have freedom to choose your own life? Tell me more about why you’d like to start your own business? Tell me more about how you think you’d want to grow your business and how can I be of support to you?
When we care and more importantly they KNOW that we care because we are speaking with them and LISTENING instead of talking TO them…the rest is history!   Now we’ve become a servant leader! And servant leaders earn the higher incomes and their business continues to grow and duplicate because they care about people and genuinely want to help them get what they want!
